Together Strong is a intervention program developed by The Philosopher Foundation, in collaboration with social workers, youth care professionals and administrative partners. It is designed for children with a refugee or migration background – for example from Syria or Ukraine – but can also be adapted for other groups.
The program focuses on building connection, resilience and future perspective. Through sport, culture and meaningful conversations about identity, opportunities and dreams, children discover their talents, learn to collaborate and strengthen their self-confidence.
Why it matters
Arriving in a new country often means learning a new language, adjusting to an unfamiliar culture and sometimes carrying difficult experiences from the past. Children in these situations need extra support to feel safe, seen and empowered.
Together Strong provides that support by combining play, creativity and dialogue.
How the program works
Together Strong consists of a dynamic mix of activities:
- Sports & Games – to have fun, build teamwork and release energy.
- Cultural Activities – including music, art and storytelling to spark creativity.
- Dialogue Circles – where children and mentors talk about dreams, talents, challenges and identity.
- Practical Skills – such as teamwork, emotional awareness and planning for the future.
We always work closely with parents, schools, community centers and local organizations so the program truly connects with the children’s daily lives.
Our approach

- Adapt – The program is tailored to the group’s culture, language and specific needs.
- Implement – Activities are offered in blocks of 6 to 12 weeks.
- Evaluate – Together, we reflect on what works and build further.
